Triple action formula
You might think of your body’s natural tears as just salty water but there’s much more to it than that – they’re a delicate balance of water, oil, and mucus, arranged in three layers. This is called the tear film and it protects and lubricates the eye. Dry eye happens when this is out of balance or there isn’t enough of it.
Cationorm mimics real tears and targets all three layers of your tear film. It works to:

Cationorm is formulated to mimic the body’s own natural tears and be long-lasting. Ingredients include:
- Cetalkonium chloride (CKC) brings the ionic ‘positive charge’ that attracts hydration to the negatively charged eye’s surface.
- Mineral oils that target the fatty oil outer layer of the eye.
- Glycerol to support lubrication and comfort.
What’s not in it?
All Ocutears artificial tears, including Cationorm are preservative free.

Cationorm also contains tyloxapol, poloxamer 188, tris-hydrochloride, tromethamine, cetalkonium chloride and water.

About Cationorm
Cationorm® works differently to eye drops you may have used in the past, thanks to its ionic formula.
You should wait at least a month to know if a particular eye drop is working for you – there’s good evidence that that artificial tears improve symptoms of dry eye disease within a month of regular use, but signs generally take several months to improve. Consistency is key! If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

Cationorm is the same formulation, it’s just the packaging that’s being updated. If your main symptoms of dry eye are redness and sensitivity, or you’re looking for a fresh feeling in the eyes, then Ocutears Alo+ is a great choice. Find out more about Ocutears Alo+ here.
However, if you have more general dry eye symptoms such as grittiness, soreness, itchy, burning or a heavy, tired or sandy feel, as well as watery eyes, then choose Ocutears Hydro++ or Cationorm.

Product use and storage
For best results, apply 1 drop in each eye, 1 to 4 times daily.
Yes. If you use other eye drops, you should wait at least 5 minutes between applying each type of eye drop. It’s recommended to use Cationorm last.

There are no clinical studies during pregnancy with this product, so it is not recommended.
Cationorm® can be used up to 3 months after the first opening. Replace Cationorm® after 3 months to avoid risk of infection.
Make sure you store the bottle in its outer box at room temperature. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Don’t use it if the bottle is damaged, after the expiry date printed on the box, or after 3 months of opening.
Using Cationorm alongside other medical eye conditions
Cationorm can be used to relieve symptoms of dry eye caused by Sjögren’s syndrome. It will not treat Sjögren’s syndrome.
Cationorm® can be used to relieve symptoms of dry eye caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. It will not treat meibomian gland dysfunction.
Cationorm® will help with the relief of dry eye symptoms caused by blepharitis. It will not treat blepharitis.
Cationorm® will work to relieve the symptoms of dry eye.
Yes, Cationorm is intended for the treatment of dry eye symptoms such as stinging, itching or burning eyes or foreign body sensation (a feeling of something in the eyes).
