  1. Ocutears Hydro+ and Ocutears Alo+ are formulated with the cross-linked version of HA (sodium hyaluronate).
  2. Cationorm is the first and only eye drop to use ionic technology.
  3. Ocutears’ cross-linked HA and the positively charged formula of Cationorm offers long-lasting hydration and relief, meaning you need to apply less often compared to alternative HA eye drops.

How Ocutears Works:

More than salt water

Your tears contain a delicate balance of water, oil, and mucus.
Artificial tears mimic this to boost your quality and quantity of tears.

Cross-linked sodium hyaluronate

Ocutears Hydro+ and Alo+ contains sodium hyaluronate (0.4%), which is a type of moisturiser that is naturally found in the body.

The “cross-linked” part means that the molecules are connected in a special way that makes it better at staying in place where it’s needed.

Ocutears is different

Some eye drops contain sodium hyaluronate but this is not the same. Ocutears Hydro+ and Alo+ are formulated with the cross-linked version. It lasts longer, compared to the non-cross-linked version.

With Ocutears, experience lasting relief from the uncomfortable symptoms of dry eye

Frequently asked questions

Many eye drops contain a preservative used to prolong the shelf life of the solution, but a recent study suggests that it can actually make dry eye worse. That’s because preservatives are a type of detergent and break up the oil part of the tear film. With long term use, it can cause unwanted side effects like allergic reaction, redness, irritation and inflammation.

It’s a type of moisturiser, known as a humectant, naturally found in the body. Humectants work by it attracting moisture – you can think of them a bit like a super sponge! It occurs naturally in the synovial fluid. It’s used widely, including in the treatment of ulcers, wounds and in skincare and cosmetics.

They are similar but not the same. Sodium hyaluronate is more stable than hyaluronic acid and is less prone to oxidation. However, sometimes companies don’t distinguish between the two ingredients on product labels. Ocutears Hydro+ and Alo+ contain cross-linked sodium hyaluronate, a different form of sodium hyaluronate.

The “cross-linked” part means that the molecules are connected in a special way that makes it better at staying in place where it’s needed. This means the symptom relief lasts longer, compared to the non-cross-linked version.

There is good evidence that artificial tears improve symptoms of dry eye disease within a month of regular use, but signs generally take several months to improve. Consistency is key!

You may find that certain things in your environment, or activities, trigger your dry eye or make it worse. Some common culprits include:

  • Air conditioning
  • Air travel
  • Car heating vents
  • Smoky rooms
  • High altitude or dry air
  • Wind
  • Excessive digital screen use

If you’ve tried lifestyle changes along with artificial tears and you still don’t see an improvement, make sure you see your doctor. They will work with you to find out the cause of your symptoms and provide recommendations.

Administer 1 or 2 drops in each eye one or more times a day or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Always make sure you read the label and apply as directed.

Ocutears Hydro+ and Alo+ products can also relieve discomfort after eye surgery. Make sure you speak to your doctor for further guidance on post-surgery treatment.

Yes, but always check with your doctor first and use as directed. If you have more than one type of drop, wait 5 minutes after the first before you use the second. If you’re using an ointment, apply the drops first (ointments can keep the eye drops from being absorbed).

If your main symptoms of dry eye are redness and sensitivity, or you’re looking for a fresh feeling in the eyes, then Alo+ is a great choice. Find out more about Ocutears Alo+.

However, if you have more general dry eye symptoms such as grittiness, soreness, itchy, burning or a heavy, tired or sandy feel, as well as watery eyes, then choose Ocutears Hydro+ or Cationorm.

If your symptoms are caused by discomfort after eye surgery, overexposure to sunlight, air-conditioning or digital screen use, then opt for Ocutears Hydro . Find out more about Ocutears Hydro+.

If you’ve tried other eye drops in the past and haven’t got the relief you needed, then Cationorm can be a great choice. This is because it works in a different way to other eye drops. It uses ionic technology to lock its positively charged formula to the negatively charged surface of the eye.

All our formulations are long-lasting, suitable for contact lens users and are preservative free.

Yes. All Ocutears artificial tears, including Cationorm, Ocutears Alo+ and Ocutears Hydro+, can be used for comfort and lubrication even when using contact lenses.
